had a love that burned me down completely Like a phoenix from the ashes, I grew strong & free But here I am, weak-kneed with you My tongue is tied, I don’t know what to do Oh I don’t wanna fall too fast I wanna rise up in a love that’s built to last Well, Life is a gamble, whether fate or chance You look at me and hold out your hand and say CHORUS: Come on, Come on, Come on now Come on and dance with me Let go of all your cares Just hold on and breathe Let’s go, Let’s go, Let’s go now Let’s walk the long way home It doesn’t matter where we start We will find our way with every turn we make With every road we take I’ve been stuck on this karma carousel The band plays past-present-future blues, & I’m caught in its spell You watch me spinning round & round, Then you smile at me & I jump off the wheel to reach Higher ground CHORUS This old world can be a dark and scary place It’s easy to forget that the sun is always there while the moon glows in space Sometimes the clouds hide all the light But every time I see you, you shine so bright Oh Love may come or go, there are no guarantees There’s no dance floor here, and I’ve got two left feet But all we have is each moment, so won’t you please CHORUS
2.
We'll See 04:28
What a time of our lives this could be What a ride, like the mad teacup, spinning faster I’m dizzy, and I’m laughing And I’m probably holding too tightly Afraid to slip into something That’s so much bigger than me CHORUS: Is this a fling Or is it a wing On a prayer Or just a game of truth or dare I’m a little scared A little queasy You say it'll be easy So, we’ll see I’m enjoying knowing who I am I don’t know if you are part of the plan A little smile, some more laughter Am I flirting with disaster You pull away, I pull harder Till we’re back in the middle again CHORUS Love can heal a broken heart or break it again Are you a hammer or are you the answer, and am I strong enough To dance this dance without knowing Who will lead and who will follow And if our steps twist and falter Can I fall with you and rise again CHORUS I hope it'll be easy So, we'll see
3.
Come on everybody, come on and sing with me Let’s go everybody, sing the melody or add a harmony If you’re mad, it’ll make you glad And if you’re blue, you’ll feel better too Whoaohoh Come on everybody, come on and sing with me Whoaohohohohohoh x3 Come on everybody, come on and dance with me Let’s go everybody, let the music move your body If you’re shy, don't worry, just close your eyes Can’t find the beat, no problem, just move your feet Whoaohoh Come on everybody, Come on and dance and sing with me Whoaohohohohohoh x3 BRIDGE: And if you’re down and out, we can lift you up And if you’re just too tired, we can fill your cup And if you’re on your own, we can take you in And if you crash and burn, we can be your wings Let us be your wings Whoaohoh Come on everybody, come on and love with me Let’s go everybody, for every lock, love is the key Feeling broken? Love will bring you hope Feeling shattered? Love will show you you matter Whoaohoh Come on everybody, come on and love and dance and sing with me Whoaohohohohohoh x3 Sing!
4.
Choose 04:59
They point a mirror at me whose reflection makes no sense That’s not what I believe, and it’s not what my friends see They’re saying things about me that no one else presents But can I choose to choose what my heart knows to be the truth? To break free from that mirror means I cannot linger there That’s the hardest part of this, there’s so much I will miss Some things start out so well, but then they change beyond repair Walking away when I would rather stay is the leap of faith I have to make today CHORUS: To get rid of the bad, we have to give up some good I wish that life were different, I wish that we could Avoid all the harm, and receive only healing But things are rarely all one or the other Sometimes we have to leave our Mother or Father, Sister or Brother, Friend or Lover, And choose a new family Because we all deserve to be Loved, we all deserve to be Loved. It’s hard to accept that nothing ever stays the same It’s easy to hold on, even when the good is gone It’s best to remember there’s something better within range But we can only find the New when we let go and do what we have to do We know what we have to do CHORUS Oh love, we all deserve to be loved You all deserve to be loved We all deserve to be loved To be loved
5.
I've been high and I've been low I've been trying to let you go I don't want my heart to break One more crack and it’ll shatter, and there's just too much at stake I don't want it matter that you've proved to be Different from the others in how you treat me I just wanna be OK on my own I wanna turn my heart into stone CHORUS: You say here, you say now You say you’re gonna love me, you’re gonna love me You say yes, you say yes You say you’re gonna love me, you’re gonna love me Every day that the waves kiss the shore For a million years and more You're the first to really touch my scars You see them as a constellation of stars Why aren't you scared, why don’t you flee Instead your lips trace each line of the map that is me CHORUS I've been down and I've been out Been filled with sorrow, overflowing with doubt Maybe It’s time to trust myself and reach Out my hand to touch your cheek Because of course it matters that you've proved to be Different from the others in how you treat me And yes, I could be OK on my own But this love in my heart is wearing away the stone FINAL CHORUS: You say here, you say now You say you’re gonna love me, you’re gonna love me You say yes, you say yes You say you’re gonna love me, you’re gonna love me I say yes, I say yes I'm gonna love you, I’m gonna love you Every day that the waves kiss the shore For a million years and more Every day, and more

Sip of Water 04:47
It’s a hot summer's night, no breeze stirs the air Sweat trickles down your skin so fair You feel me watching, you ask “Is there something you need?” I take a moment, then I follow your lead “I'd love a sip of your water, sip of your water” CHORUS: Cool cool water, sweet sweet sound Soon we’re moving all around The windows steam up as we let down our hair When you come calling I’ll be there For a sip of your water As we dance to the beat of a slow Motown song My eyes drink you in, I’ve been waiting so long You hear me breathing in your scent so fine You lean real close and touch your lips to mine CHORUS Repeat 1st verse
7.
Somebody loved me, somebody let me down Somebody left me, vanished without a sound Some people scare easily, afraid to love deeply Some people's scars leave them alone in the dark Somebody loved me, somebody touched my soul But some people’s stories leave them anything but whole A broken glass window allows the cold wind to blow Freezing the warmest heart so it cannot beat CHORUS: Blame it on the moon, the sun, the stars Blame them for how far You hide your heart from me Blame it on the rain, the snow, the sleet Blame them for how deep You hide your heart from me Oh, why do you hide your heart from me The moon is rising, pulling the sea to the sand We used to walk here, laughing, hand in hand Our footsteps long washed away, erased by wave after wave And all the love that we made is gone with the tides CHORUS Blame everything you can and cannot see Blame yourself, but please, don't blame me For how you hide your heart from me Oh, why do you hide your heart from me A broken glass window allows the cold wind to blow Freezing the warmest heart so it cannot beat, it cannot beat Somebody loved me
8.
Trust 05:36
The house is empty, the sun shines in On the bare pine floors On the half open doors. I wander through from room to room Your things are gone Our story is done. I once found love in these sunlit rooms Where I knew your soul Before history claimed its toll. The love is gone so far away It echoes in me Where your warmth used to be. CHORUS: I trust That I’ll be ok That I’ll be just fine, that I’ll be happy one day I’m scared But I have faith That I’m not alone, that I’ll be loved one day I trust, I trust When fear walked in and you walked out I paced these rooms In my solitude. Your broken past broke us at last You say it’s too hard to feel But I know it’s the only way to heal. CHORUS The house is changing, the sun shines in On the friends and the books, And signs of life wherever you look. These rooms are filled with stories and love And new-found songs I am right where I belong. CHORUS I trust, I trust

First Kiss 04:14
It’s the pounding of my heart It’s the flushing of my face It's the chill along my arms It’s the lure of your embrace It's not knowing what to say It's wondering what to do Is it time to take a hand Is it time to make a move It all leads to this…. It’s that look in your eyes It’s that slow spreading grin It’s that tingle in my chest I think I’m ready to begin So scoot a little closer, baby Put your hand here in mine Let me whisper in your ear Let me show you that it’s time It all leads to this A first kiss! CHORUS: First kiss, first touch Not too hard and not too much Lean forward and react If I kiss you, will you kiss me back? Somewhere far down the line If we withstand the test of time We’ll remember every step Of this dance so divine But for now it’s just the thrill And the pounding heart and the heat And the wondering and the reach Anticipation so sweet The sweetness of this A first kiss! CHORUS It’s the pounding of your heart It’s the flushing of your face It's the chill along your arms It’s the lure of our embrace It all leads to this CHORUS
10.
Sidle up beside me, sit real close I’ll tell you a secret that I don't tell most It’s kinda personal, I like to do it alone If I can't get home, I do it with my phone I like to watch every day I don't let anything get in the way Of this secret pleasure, this solitary vice I like to watch, sometimes I do it twice CHORUS: So switch it on to my obsession The Weather Channel is my Heaven Storms and systems and deadly lightning Can't you feel my temperature rising (1,2,3,4, go!) The Weather Channel, oh, the Weather Channel, oh Every morning when I plan my day I see what Vivian has to say Will it rain, will it blow lots of dust, is there snow or hail coming our way Is El Nino here, is he here to stay CHORUS You thought you knew me, but you didn’t know I have to watch, I can’t miss the show So if you want to thrill me, sit right here, and whisper in my ear “it's gonna be a bad bad monsoon year” CHORUS
11.
Young Hadiya performed for the President A week later, she was gunned down We wear orange to remember her In Chicago, in every town Pulse Orlando was the place to be out dancing with friends Sandy Hook had a school where children walked in innocence So many killed by one mad hand on a gun We remember, we remember, we remember each one Did you hear about it, did you cry about it Will you join us, every one? CHORUS : We shall be seen, We shall be seen We shine so bright we light up everything We raise our voices, We shall be heard As we speak truth to power in every town, we light up this world We shall be seen More than 90 Americans die each day By a bullet from a gun 8 of them are children Taken from us, they are gone And hundreds more shot daily, by their own hand or by minds deranged In Tucson, Charleston, Las Vegas, everywhere The survivors are never the same Did you read about it, do you care about it Will you stand up and refuse to lose another one? CHORUS BRIDGE: We are parents, children, siblings, we are loved ones, friends too We're not headlines or statistics, we’ve got so much work to do We are teachers singers carpenters couch potatoes activists And we won’t stop till we end this senseless gun violence FINAL CHORUS: We shall be seen, we shall be seen We shine so bright we light up everything We raise our voices, we shall be heard As we speak truth to power in every town, we light up this world We are just like the sun as it changes dark to dawn We are the change that we demand to see, together you and me We shall be seen, We shall be seen, We shall be seen, We shall be seen (x3) We shall be seen
12.
I will not lie down, I will not submit I will not quiet, I will resist I will not tone down just to keep the peace I will not be told that I can’t be free I say No, No No more injustice, no more living hell No more apathy, it's time to ring all the bells No more helping others close their eyes It’s time for all of us to join in the cry And say No, No They thought they broke us, took our joy away Well, I have news, I have something to say As they can see, we are now in our glory If I were them, I might start to worry We say No, No One word, took so long to say Lifetimes of trying, oceans of waves One tiny word with the power of life The power of love, the power to survive We say No, No NO!

about

Joyce Luna's debut solo release Every Road We Take is co-produced by Joyce Luna & Ryan David Green (of the folk duo Ryanhood). It features Joyce on vocals & guitar; Ryan on guitar, mandolin, & harmonies; Michael Gilbert Ronstadt (Linda's nephew) on cello; & members of EveryTown for Gun Safety/Moms Demand Action for Gun Safety in America singing with Joyce on her anthemic song We Shall Be Seen.

The album contains 12 original songs (an hour's worth of music) about love, loss, The Weather Channel, gun violence awareness, firstt kisses, making hard choices, trusting that we’ll be ok after those choices, taking action, flings, finding love again, and the importance of community.

Joyce Luna is a contemporary folk/Americana singer-songwriter now based in Tucson AZ. Some may remember her from her days in the Massachusetts folk duo "Justina & Joyce", who toured the US, sold 10,000 copies of their 2 independently released albums, & then promptly broke up  After a long hiatus due to a mysterious medical condition that kept her from playing music, in 2015 Joyce found a thoracic surgeon who diagnosed her with a rare congenital problem, & she had a brand-new robotic surgery that fixed it!

Joyce began performing regularly again in Spring 2016. She blends beautiful soulful singing with poetic songwriting that’s both intimate & universal. She balances a romantic streak with a deep understanding of the pains and joys of modern society, an ability to chronicle the vagaries of love, an unwillingness to be silent about injustice, and a persistent belief that music can change the world--all laced with humor & connection.

This past year, she has focused on recording her contemporary folk/Americana debut solo album Every Road We Take (co-produced by Ryan David Green of Ryanhood!!). She started crowdfunding in 2017, less than a year after her return to performing, and her grassroots effort raised over $9,000 to independently record and release this record.

Recommended if you like Cheryl Wheeler, John McCutcheon, James Taylor, Jason Mrasz, Aimee Mann, Pete Seeger, Sara Bareilles, The Weepies, Laura Nyro, Patty Griffin, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Carole King, &/or Joni Mitchell, the album Every Road We Take features a stellar cast of musicians including: Michael Gilbert Ronstadt (nephew of Linda Ronstadt) on cello; co-producer Ryan David Green (of the folk duo Ryanhood) on guitar, mandolin, keyboards, bass, harmony vocals, and the all-important shaker; jazz drummer Pete Swan; & members of EveryTown for Gun Safety/Moms Demand Action for Gun Safety in America (Tucson & Chicago chapters) singing with Joyce on her anthemic song We Shall Be Seen. Michael's brother Peter Dalton Ronstadt recorded Joyce’s acoustic guitar on several tracks.

“...Just about the closest thing to musical nirvana you’re going to encounter in this or any other life, unless you’ve been very, very, good indeed & have a major deity owing you a big favor.”—Paul Rapp, The Metroland

FORMATS/Genres: Contemporary Folk; Americana; AAA; College; Topical/Social Justice; Singer-Songwriter; Acoustic.
